On March 28, NP Founder, Lee-anne McDougall heard messenger ding. She opened the message to see a pic of the one and only Roxy Lola Voo holding a shiny award.
Lee-anne said “who? Newcastle Pride? really? what for?”
Newcastle Pride had received the award for Best Stall at Fair Day at the 2019 Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Awards, which recognise excellence across the 2019 series of events in the Sydney-based Festival. Roxy accepted the award and did us proud. Lee-anne and the team were elated. “It is a huge achievement and recognition for our organisation, that was conceived only a year ago” said co-founder Ivan Skaines.
Newcastle Pride would like to thank a number of people who made this award possible including illustrator Judy Nadin who designed our branding for the marquee and other collateral used to decorate the stall, and, of course, all the volunteers who helped with the stall on the day, selling NP merchandise and providing information about Newcastle Pride and the upcoming Newcastle Pride Festival.
