After the cancellation of the 2020 Newcastle Pride festival, we were preparing to throw the most sequin drenched, camp and inclusive Pride Festival Newcastle, the Hunter Valley and Lake Macquarie has ever seen…. but for a second year the COVID pandemic has affected our festival plans, so we rescheduled the 2021 festival to November with the hope that restrictions maybe relaxed allowing us to proceed with the festival.

However, as the spread of the highly contagious Delta variant hits the Hunter Region and the ongoing uncertainty and restrictions around Outdoor public gatherings and events, Newcastle Pride has again had to make the difficult decision of cancelling our 2021 Newcastle Pride festival until October 2022.     It is heartbreaking that the community will miss out again this year but our highest priority is the health and safety of our Community, attendees, volunteers, artists, traders, family and friends.

We recognise that we are making this decision sooner rather than later, we hope this gives people time to change or cancel their plans. We apologise for any inconvenience.

The committee will continue working on the 2022 festival and carry over the planned 2021 events and theme “This is Me” to October 2022. We are determined that Newcastle Pride will continue as we are resilient.

We will also continue monitoring NSW Government restrictions and event guidelines and if safe to proceed we may host some smaller events in the coming months or early 2022. In the meantime, we have been working on a new, exciting and fabulous project that will have you all bursting with anticipation, details early 2022.

I would like to acknowledge and thank our 2021 Sponsors, Supporters, stall holders and LGBTIQA+ Organisations and Groups who share our values and have committed to continue their support into 2022.
