NEWCASTLE PFLAG !

Parents and carers of LGBTIQ+ youth
this is an opportunity to get involved and support your child or loved one.

Michelle Lancey is the founder of the Newcastle Parents and Friends of Lesbians And Gays (PFLAG).
Michelle’s son came out in 2001 and this led her to focus on LGBTQI equality issues. She created the Newcastle branch of PFLAG after seeing an episode of Australian Story featuring Shelly Argent, a prominent advocate for LGBTQI rights and the national spokesperson for PFLAG.

Michelle has been running Newcastle PFLAG for 10 years with support from others. Michelle is
stepping down from the counseling support of phone calls and emails and hosting meetings because of family commitments, but is still happy to speak at events and provide mentoring and support.

Sydney PFLAG is doing a great job with phone calls and emails but it would be fabulous to have local parents continue the amazing work Michelle started.
